Back from acclimatization in Cordón del Plata we’ve got just one day to get everything ready. We have to buy entry permits for the Aconcagua National Park, get transport, mule, food, gasoline and many other things. This day is not over, we make a full use of its 24 hours. With all the supplies put together and in the cargo bags, we got to 36 and 32 kg on each side of the mule – we overloaded it by eight kilos. On top of that everyone has some extra 18 kg on his back.
On the other hand, during the eight-day acclimatization, we all lost 2–5 kg (Vladimir minus 2, Martin minus 5, Aleš minus 4), and our physical appearance changed fundamentally too, as evident from the picture.
At high altitudes it is important to have an increased intake of liquids – for now each of us is thoroughly hydrated by about eight beers... It's Friday, 18th January 2008, shortly before 5 a.m. We're setting off in an hour. Our return and news can be expected after 26 January. And now, dear readers, you have a few days to guess who is the red, yellow and black Spiderman, and which one will be the first on the summit of Aconcagua.
